Krishna Devotionals, Vedanta Insights

In the continuing series of her discourses on Krishna Bhakti and Vedantic insights, Sushree Maheshwari Devi has several engagements in Northridge, Laverne and Riverside.

A teacher at the International Society of Divine Love, founded by His Holiness Prakasanand Saraswati at Basana Dham in Texas, Maheshwari Devi is a sanyasi of the Vaishnava order. She will explore the Vedas, Brahma Sutra, the Gita and the Bhagawatam to understand divine love.

Her schedule in Los Angeles:

Events at Hindu Temple

CALABASAS

Vratas, homams and cultural events are being planned by the Hindu Temple Society of Southern California for the rest of August.

A Varalakshmi Vratam is scheduled for August 20, 6.30 p.m.; two days later, Sri Maha Sudarshana Homam is scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm.

On August 26 a Rig and Yajur Upakarma are scheduled in two batches; the first one starts at 7 in the morning, followed by the second an hour later. And on August 30, the Maha Sankatahara Chaturthi and archana to Lord Ganesha starts at 6.30 pm.

Independence Day Anniversary in Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona

The Indian American community will mark the Indian Independence Day here on August 21, starting at 7 pm.

Local artists will perform a variety of cultural and pop events. The proceeds from the event will go to the jawans fund to help the families of soldiers killed at Kargil.

The events will be held at Horizon High School, 5601 East Greenway Road. Tickets, $ 2 for students and $ 7; for members of the India Association, $ 5.
