Nambiar to return to China by month-end

The Indian ambassador to China, Vijay Nambiar will return to Beijing before the end of the month, Brijesh Mishra, principal secretary to the prime minister, said today.

Addressing a press conference, he clarified that Nambiar was called to New Delhi in a ''routine fashion'' much before India conducted nuclear tests on May 11. ''He will be here for a few days and will be back to Beijing before the end of the month,'' he said.

Pointing out that India wanted the best of relations with China, he hoped the new Chinese ambassador to New Delhi would soon be able to present his credentials to President K R Narayanan.
