Darsheel as good as SRK, Akshay?

Darsheel Safary finally has his wish.

The child actor in Aamir Khan's hit film Taare Zameen Par has been nominated in the best actor category of the 53rd Filmfare Awards, which will be screened on Sony Entertainment Television on February 24.

The nine-year old has been nominated along with Abhishek Bachchan (Guru), Akshay Kumar (Namastey London), Shah Rukh Khan for Chak De! India and Om Shanti Om, and Shahid Kapoor (Jab We Met).

His mentor and director of TZP, Aamir Khan has been nominated in the best actor in a supporting role category.

Last month, Darsheel allegedly refused to attend the Star Screen Awards because he did not get a best actor nomination, though he won an award for best child actor for his role in TZP.

The best child actor nomination upset Darsheel because he felt that irrespective of age, he was the main protagonist of TZP and hence, he deserved to be recognised accordingly.

Perhaps Darsheel wants the same recognition as that of his Hollywood counterpart, Haley Joel Osment, who at age 11, got an Academy Award nomination for his role in Manoj Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense.

Whatever the reason, Darsheel can now rest easy.

Now, the only question is: Is he good enough to go against the likes of King Khan, Abhishek, Shahid and Akshay Kumar?

What do you think?
