Actress Manisha Koirala [ Images ] has been provided police protection in the wake of protests following a media report claiming she had named her dog after a revered Muslim figure.

Policemen have been deployed at Koirala's home in suburban Mumbai [ Images ] to prevent any untoward incident following the protests, Additional Commissioner of Police Bipin Bihari told PTI on Tuesday.

The police, however, said the actress does not have a dog.
