Shaadi No 1's music disappoints

Marry one. Love another. That seems to be the norm these days. Masti and No Entry anyone? For director David Dhawan [ Images ], infidelity is no alien territory. His comedies Saajan Chale Sasural [ Images ], Biwi No 1 and Gharwali Baharwali circled around this theme.

For his new laugh raiser Shaadi No 1, he collaborates once again with producer Vashu Bhagnani. The duo previously worked on Coolie No 1 [ Images ], Hero No 1 and Biwi No 1. The standout feature of Shaadi No 1, however, is its drawn-out credit list featuring Sanjay Dutt [ Images ], Fardeen Khan [ Images ], Zayed Khan [ Images ], Sharman Joshi [ Images ], Esha Deol [ Images ], Ayesha Takia [ Images ], Soha Ali Khan [ Images ], Riya Sen [ Images ], Aarti Chhabria [ Images ] and Sophia.

There are six songs in this soundtrack, composed by Anu Malik [ Images ]. But once you press the play button, be prepared for disappointment.

Disappointment number 1 is Chand ko tod doonga. The beats are a mix of Ishq kamina (Shakti-The Power) and Mujhse shaadi karogi (Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge). Forget the lack of novelty, what is really irritating is Anuradha Sriram's excessively nasal screeching to crude lyrics like Tu ek baar jo haan kar de mein pehli waali chod doonga.

The torture continues. More underfoot philosophy is thrown your way in the next track. Beat this: Jeetne channel TV ke utne nakhre biwi ke. TV chale remote se biwi chale hai note se. Musically also, this one is no great shakes, thanks to a crowded arrangement of uninspiring bhangra beats and loud rap.

Two songs down and you know it's time to stop looking for lyrical value as far this album is concerned. Tapori numbers are usually fun. But here they are simply bad!

Up next, Rahul Vaidya -- an Indian Idol [ Images ] finalist, who sounds a lot like Bappi Lahiri [ Images ] -- croons the God promise dil dola to Shreya Ghosal [ Images ]. Two words: god, help!

There is something downmarket and evidently cheesy about the wishy-washy ditty Hello madam I am your Adam. Oddly, when Amitabh Bachchan [ Images ] sordidly points out the same during the climax of Bunty Aur Babli's [ Images ] Kajra re it evokes a lop-sided grin. But then the Big B [ Images ] can get away in a Shahenshah uniform as well!

Breezy and peppy, Shaan [ Images ] and Sunidhi Chauhan [ Images ] render the most decent track of Shaadi No 1. Dil nahi toda karte is your safest best in this otherwise flaky album.

Guest composers Aqueel and Sanjeev helm the voluble and high-voltage dance number, Aiyashi aiyashi. If you are an easy to please listener, Aiyashi may eventually catch your fancy after repeated hearings.

High on tepid tunes and smutty lyrics, Shaadi No 1 is at best a second rate album from the No 1 team.
