Is Paheli the right choice?

The news is official: Paheli is India's entry for the 2006 Oscars [ Images ]!

The Amol Palekar film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan [ Images ], and pits the actor in a double role with Rani Mukerji [ Images ].

The other films considered for the nomination were Mangal Pandey [ Images ], Veer-Zaara, Iqbal, Swades [ Images ], Parineeta [ Images ], Page 3, Black, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Sachein (Tamil), Anniyan (Tamil), Uttarayan (Marathi), Achuvante Anna (Malayalam), Graham (Telugu), and Kadal (Tamil).
