Hang on, you'll say. These guys have only done three films together, haven't they? True. But it's the quality of these blissfully surreal, esoteric creations that makes this a partnership to marvel at.
First came the groundbreaking Rushmore, the ultimate geek-cult film. Then, with The Royal Tenenbaums, the absurdity factor was just turned up several notches. Last year came their third film, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, a beautifully bizarre film about an oceanographer in a slightly vengeful frame of mind.
Here's to much more weirdness.
