This one is no Tere Naam!

November 30, 2004 14:54 IST

Vaada - The Deadly PromiseThe soundtrack of Vaada [ Images ] – The Deadly Promise fails to live up to the promise.

Coming from the team (director Satish Kaushik [ Images ] and Reshammiya) that gave us the immensely popular Tere Naam [ Images ] last year, it is disappointing to say the least.

The title track of the Arjun Rampal-Amisha Patel-Zayed Khan starrer is a lifeless composition rendered by Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik [ Images ].

And it has three versions!

Don't Miss!

This time, it's a ship!

Main Ishq Uska (Babul Supriyo, Alka Yagnik) continues from where the title track leaves off. And the lyrics don't help one bit: Main ishq uska, woh ashiqui meri, woh ladki nahin, zindagi hai meri…

When Teri Kurty Sexy (Shaan [ Images ], Anuradha Sriram) starts playing, one expects to hear Dholna from Dil To Pagal Hai. Listen carefully: it will remind you of Tere Sang Ek from Zameen [ Images ].

Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik also sound very average on Main Deewana.

But, let's be fair. Allah Ke Bande singer Kailash Kher's [ Images ] rendition of Ud ud ud jaye with Sunidhi Chauhan [ Images ] is a redeeming factor. Himesh Reshammiya's [ Images ] composition compliments the singer's Sufi style of rendition, making it the best song of the album.

On second thought, Maula, by Kavita Seth, is interesting as well. Although rendered like a ghazal, the composition is upbeat. And one doesn't mind the two versions of the song either.

Verdict: The music of Vaada Fails to impress.
