ROTK is the Lord of the Globes!

The cast and crew of The Lord of the Rings: Return of the KingIt was a starry turnout at the 61st annual Golden Globes ceremony in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California.

And it was celebration time for Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The final installment of Tolkien's epic trilogy won in all categories it was nominated in – best film (drama), director (Peter Jackson), original soundtrack (Howard Shore) and original song (Howard Shore, Frances Walsh, and Annie Lennox).

Sean Penn and Charlize Theron won the best actor and actress (drama) trophies for their work in Mystic River and Monster respectively. The South African native thanked writer-director Patty Jenkins for giving her the opportunity to work in Monster. Sean Penn couldn't make it to the awards function due to personal reasons. Director of Mystic River, Clint Eastwood, collected the trophy on his behalf.

Afghanistan's Osama was adjudged best foreign film.

Danny Devito and Michael DouglasSofia Coppola's humorous Lost in Translation won the best film (musical/comedy) award. It also bagged the Golden Globe for best actor (Bill Murray) and screenplay (Coppola). Diane Keaton became best actress in a musical/comedy for her work in the romantic comedy, Something's Gotta Give.

Renee Zellweger notched her third Golden Globe (after Nurse Betty and Chicago) for best supporting actress for her performance in Cold Mountain. Tim Robbins won best supporting actor for Mystic River.

utstanding contribution in the entertainment field. Douglas has fine performances in films like Wall Street, Romancing The Stone, War of the Roses, Basic Instinct, Falling Down, Black Rain and The Game to his credit.

Considered a prologue to the Oscars, Golden Globes saw Hollywood stars like Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Richard Gere, Catherine-Zeta Jones, Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Al Pacino, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lopez, Nicholas Cage, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Aniston, Queen Latifah, Elijah Wood gracing the occasion.
