Now, Dhawan will make Shaadi No 1!

Producer Vashu Bhagnani and director David Dhawan have made four films together: Coolie No 1 (1995), Hero No 1 (1997), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) and Biwi No 1 (1999).

Five years later, the duo have come together again for yet another film, Shaadi No 1.

Shaadi No 1 stars Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Zayed Khan, Sharman, Amisha Patel, Soha Ali Khan and Koena Mitra. Three more actresses will be added to the cast.

The music is scored by Anu Malik. Sameer will pen the lyrics. It may be recalled that Anu Malik had scored the music for Dhawan's directorial debut, Taqatwar, in 1989.

Dhawan, whose last film Mujhse Shaadi Karoge (Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra) was a big hit, says, "Vashu started his career with me in Coolie No 1. He is a passionate producer who will sell his last shirt for a film!"

"This is an out-and-out comedy," he adds. "It is a family entertainer that deals with problems between married couples."

Zayed elaborates, "I play a married man. He, along with two friends, wants to make it big in life and make money. But they always get into trouble with their conservative wives. The men get irritated with their wives and want to venture out and try new things. Ultimately, they realise what true love is. The film is a comedy of errors."

Another Masti, maybe?

Zayed adds that since the film would be directed by Dhawan, it would be slapstick and 'fun to do'. He says, "Comedy is easy if you are in the hands of a good director like David Dhawan, who understands comedy. An actor is only as good as his director."

"I am looking forward to looking stupid but loveable because this is something I haven't done as yet. It will make Sanju, Fardeen, Sharman and me look interestingly stupid!" he exclaims.

Sharman chips in, "My character, also a married man, is the usual hardworking nine to five kind of guy. But he falls in love with another woman. His friends are in the same situation, and this is when the comedy starts."

Soha, who will make her Bollywood debut with Dil Maange More on December 24, says, "Both these films are romantic comedies. In Shaadi No 1, I play Neha, an ambitious lawyer who comes to Mumbai from a small town. She is very arrogant."

She adds, "I see everything from the banner, director and my role before choosing films. David Dhawan movies are always funny, so I will enjoy the process. I also liked my character in it. Since I have just started acting, I am nervous. But the more time I spend in front of the camera, the more I feel comfortable."

The film will be shot in Mumbai and abroad. Shooting will begin on December 14. Dhawan hopes to release it by August 2005.
