Tell us about your role. Does it make you feel sorry you turned down Kuch Kuch Hota Hai?

It is probably the best [role] I have done so far! I learnt a couple of sentences of Gujarati [Saif plays a Gujarati in the film]. I had to write those lines on a cutter behind the actors' heads because I just couldn't remember them.

Karan has written the dialogues well. Everyone has said my comic timing is swell. Now, I am starting to believe it! [laughs]

It does make me feel silly for refusing KKHH. But I couldn't have done it as confidently as Salman Khan. He did his role really well. I would have done it like some English-speaking cartoon, which is not the way his role was intended.

But in any case, Salman was offered the role before me. He refused it first and so it came to me. Then it went back to him and he agreed. I do kick myself over it but it is good that Karan is back with something far more interesting.
