HOME | MOVIES Ronjita Kulkarni Aftab Shivdasani's performances in his recent films have drawn quite some acclaim. He held his own against talents like Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal in Priyadarshan's Hungama, despite having a small roles. The film went on to become a hit. Prawaal Raman's Darna Mana Hai made no waves at the box-office. But Aftab's was one of the six stories that stayed on everyone's mind. A lot of the credit goes towards his portrayal of the character. Aftab, who became famous as the Farex baby, debuted in films when he was only nine years old in Shekhar Kapur's Mr India. Not surprisingly, the film remains one of his favourites. He made another child appearance in the Sridevi-starrer Chaalbaaz. Starring the then box-office queen in a double role, with Sunny Deol and Rajinikanth, the film was a laugh riot. The actor now talks about the films that really inspire him.

Sholay I like Sholay for obvious reasons. It is a historic film. I cannot think of any flaw in Sholay. It is just perfect -- the story, music, performances, dialogues, action, everything is so perfect.

Mr India This is my first movie. I was one of the orphans in the film. It was also a film for children. It was a great experience. I have great childhood memories attached with that film. Mr India was a science fiction, which was a new concept in those days. And it was a very big hit at that time.

Mother India I saw this old time classic starring Nargis, Sunil Dutt and Rajendra Kumar when I was very, very young. Yet, it moved me to tears. It was a mother and son film, the kind which has not been made in a very long time.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge I love this film for obvious reasons: it is a beautiful love story, and the epitome of love stories ever made. One of the most popular and successful commercial films, it is the most remembered film in recent times.
