As 2003 draws to a close, it is time to look at the stars who made waves this year. rediff.com presents an assessment of how the year has treated some of Bollywood's most prominent stars:

Aishwarya Rai

Ash has had a great year. Period. It started with her debut production Dil Ka Rishtaa in January. The film flopped but she made waves.

Next, she was chosen as a jury member at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. She rubbed shoulders with the likes of Meg Ryan and filmmaker Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's Eleven, Traffic, Erin Brockovich). She went a step further. She got herself a

Hollywood agent. She chose none other than the prestigious William Morris Agency. She is now working on Gurinder Chadha's Bride And Prejudice and Chaos, costarring Meryl Streep.

She did have her share of woes. She suffered an accident on the sets of Rajkumar Santoshi's Khakee when a jeep ran over her left foot. She had to be rushed to the hospital. Her turbulent relationship with Salman Khan, which had sparked off on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, ended on a sour note as Ash promised never to work with the actor again. She even backed out of Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani to avoid the Khan.
