Actress Karisma Kapoor will marry Delhi industrialist Sunjay Kapur next month, her father actor-filmmaker Randhir Kapoor confirmed on Wednesday.
'We will be able to give you the date in a couple of days,' he said. "The wedding is an arranged one. Both Karisma and Sanjay have known each other but the alliance has been fixed with the help of common friends."
The actress merely says, 'My parents will decide [her marriage] for me.'
Her sister, actress Kareena Kapoor says, "I'm very happy. The wedding will be held on September 29 in my grandfather's [the late Raj Kapoor] house [in Chembur, Mumbai]."
Sunjay is the brother of Superna Motwane and Mandira Kapur, Karisma's old friends. Their late grandfather Raunaq Singh set up the Apollo Tyres empire. Sunjay is Managing Director, Sona Koya Steering, part of the Sona Group which his father Surinder Kapur runs.
Sunjay also owns the Indian edition of French magazine L'Officiel, whose editor is Motwane.
Karisma was earlier engaged to Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's son, actor Abhishek Bachchan. But the engagement, which was announced on Amitabh's birthday on October 11 last year, broke off in January.
She recently made her television debut with the serial Karishma: The Miracles Of Destiny on Sahara TV. The serial ran into a spot of trouble when novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford slapped a suit against the television channel, alleging the serial was plagiarised from her novel A Woman of Substance.
Bradford lost the case. The serial is now on air.
