Salman barred from entering Rajasthan
Rajasthan Shiv Sena chief calls the actor irresponsible
|
Rajasthan's Shiv Sena chief Nanak Ram Thawani has raised his voice against Hindi film actor Salman Khan.
The actor is now barred from entering the Western Indian state of Rajasthan. "If the actor, accused of killing a person by rash driving in Mumbai, poaching protected wild animals in Rajasthan and misbehaving with actress Aishwarya Rai, tried to enter the state, he himself will be responsible for the consequences," Thawani said in statement in Jaipur, referring to Khan.
He added that Khan is an "irresponsible fellow" who has hurt the feelings of animal lovers in Rajasthan and committed criminal offenses.
The Shiv Sena chief's statement is in response to the September 28 incident, when Khan drove over a few pavement dwellers, killing one man and injuring two others in a drunken haze. The incident was evidently precipitated by one-time girlfriend Aishwarya Rai's volatile interview published the day before, in which she accused Khan of harassing her constantly.
The actor has long been dogged by controversy. During the shooting of his film Hum Saath Saath Hain (1998), Khan was arrested for hunting endangered black buck in Rajasthan. He was also questioned for his links with the underworld.
