Adoor Gopalakrishnan wins Best Director Award in France
Mathilukal picks up Best Film Award
The Malayalam film Mathilukal (The
Walls) directed by well-known filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has been adjudged Best Film at the recently concluded 12th International film Festival for young people in Paris.
Gopalakrishnan also received the Best Director Award for the film.
The prize for Best Film carries a cash award of 6,500 Euros, while that for the Best Director purses Euros 1500.
Gopalakrishnan, now in London, said he would be leaving for Paris November 21 to receive the awards.
Mathilukal has already received several National Awards and the International Film Critics' Award in Venice in 1990.
The festival featured films of special interest to young people hitherto not exhibited in France.
