The government has announced that all places of work in the country will be declared smoke-free and those found flouting the law will be strictly punished.

So you might even be taken to task if you light up that cigarette at home as the smoke can be harmful for the servants working at your residence.

"All workplaces in India will be tobacco-free and this will come into enforcement in another three to four months time," Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said.

Do you think such a measure is appropriate to counter health hazards caused by smoking? Can a ban of this nature actually help people get rid of the habit of smoking? Is such a measure required? Can a ban ever be a solution to a problem?
