'The next Tatas, Birlas belong to Andhra'

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy is upbeat on Hyderabad becoming an entrepreneurship hub.

Lauding TiE-ISB Connect 2006, a joint effort of the Hyderabad-based Indian School of Business and the Hyderabad chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs and TiE-ISB, to bring together budding and established entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and experts to help build new enterprises, he said events like these will help talented people to come forward to start companies benefiting thousand of others as well.

He expressed pleasant surprise at the increase in the number of business plans shortlisted for this year's event from 80 to 220 this year.

On Wednesday, urging entrepreneurs to invest in Hyderabad, Reddy assured all support form his 'proactive' government. "We assure you a friendly bureaucracy, and will do everything possible to make your venture a success."

On the 20 shortlisted companies for the much-awaited VC scrutiny, Reddy promises all support to the entrepreneurs behind these new startups.

"We will come out with an innovative scheme (for assisting) the young entrepreneurs." He said as a medical doctor, he would say that the entrepreneurial gene of the Indians, which has been lying dormant for long, has been activated and raising funds for budding entrepreneurs would not be a problem.

"The next Birlas and Tatas will belong to Andhra Pradesh," he said.

Hyderabad is booming and is a hub of development, he said and invited investment into emerging sectors like retail, sports and fitness and entertainment in Hyderabad.

This is the place to be and Andhra Pradesh promises the right ecosystem for entrepreneurship to flourish, he highlighted.

Reddy also stressed that it was important to look east now as India is emerging as the next economic superpower.
