If the aviation ministry has its way, your air travel is likely to get costlier. The government is planning to tax air tickets to fund AIDS programmes.

Such a plan was first mooted by France [ Images ], which taxes airline tickets to fund health projects. France was supported by 12 other countries.

The 12 countries -- Brazil [ Images ], Britain, Chile, Congo, Cyprus, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mauritius, Nicaragua and Norway-- pledged their support to France in March to tax air tickets to support HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria programmes.

What do you think of this plan? Do you think India [ Images ] should adopt this policy?

Are your willing to pay more on your air ticket for a cause? Tell us!
