The profit before tax went up to Rs 534.6 crore (Rs 5.34 billion) during Q2 of 2006-07, a growth of 38.41 percent over the same period last year.
With this, the total income (net of excise) for the first half of the fiscal (April-September 2006) was Rs 6809.6 crore (Rs 68.09 billion), a growth of 16 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The net profit stood at Rs 737 crore (Rs 7.37 billion), up 50.68 percent over April-September 2005.
The company's domestic sales during Q2 (July-Sept 2006) grew 16.2 per cent over the same period last fiscal. The company sold 157,683 vehicles during the quarter, including 8,165 units of exports.
During the first half of this year, Maruti's sales grew by 18 per cent in the domestic car market. In the same period, the A1 & A2 car segment, showed a higher growth of 19 per cent.
