Total sales during the month stood at 60,163 vehicles, including 4,269 units of exports, a company release said.
During the month of October, the company sold a whopping 22,294 units of Alto, highest ever monthly sales for any model and make in India. The previous record of highest sales is held by Maruti 800 (20,687 units in March 03), it added.
Maruti's volume in the domestic A2 segment (Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, and Swift) went up by 23.5 per cent and in C segment (Omni, Versa) grew by 21.6 per cent during the month compared to sales in October 2005.
However, in the A1 segment (M800) the company's volume went down by 30.1 per cent, in the A3 segment (Baleno and Esteem) it dipped by 11.7 per cent during the month as compared to the year-ago period, it said.
In the MUV segment (Gypsy, Vitara), the volume went down by 42.6 per cent during the month compared to sales in October 2005. Shares of the company were trading at Rs 970.05, 0.15 per cent on the BSE.
