Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday said it would soon issue Rs 500 denomination banknotes with inset letter 'E' in both numbering panels in Mahatma Gandhi series-2005 with additional security features.
"Except for change in the inset letter, the design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the banknotes issued earlier in the Mahatma Gandhi series with additional/new security features issued on October 21, 2005," it said in a statement.
All banknotes in the denomination of Rs 500 issued by the bank after 1997 would continue to be legal tender, it added.Do you want to discuss stock tips? Do you know a hot one? Join the Stock Market Investments Discussion Group
