The proposed bank strike on March 9 has been deferred as the Indian Bank Association has agreed to discuss the issue of compassionate appointment with the unions.
A statement by the National Confederation of Bank Employees said the central chief labour commissioner has called a meeting of the bank unions and IBA to start conciliation proceedings and work out a solution in this regard.
NCBE said IBA has assured that it would formulate a detailed scheme within 60 days, for which the proposed strike has been deferred.
