Conviction in the existing judicial system was very time consuming in nature, Nasscom president Kiran Karnik told said on the sidelines of the ITeS-Bpo Conclave in Kolkata [ Images ].
He said Nasscom had made suggestions to the government that a separate bench be set up to handle cyber crimes for early conviction.
Besides a separate court would instill confidence in the minds of the foreign firms whose jobs were being outsourced to India [ Images ], he said.
Commenting on the incidents of cyber crimes, Karnik said that compared to other countries, India was still a safe and secure destination. "However, there is no room for complacency."
While in India, such incidents took place once in five or six months, in other countries it was a dime a dozen. However, the crucial issue was that of certainty and conviction.
