India's second largest two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto Ltd has announced plans to enter the un-geared scooter market.

It also showcased its motorcycles and scooters that are likely to be launched in 2006 with an exception of a value-for-money executive segment motorcycle that will hit the market in the first quarter of this calendar year.

The line-up, showcased at the Auto Expo, included the Pulsar DTS-Fi sports motorcycle and a light sports motorcycle, the Bajaj Sonic-DTS-i, targeting the lower age group.

Company executives said despite the return of demand for scooters in the country, the segment's share in the overall two-wheeler market had remained at 10 per cent for the last six years.

With the launch of the un-geared scooters, Kristal DTS-i and Blade DTS-i, the company proposed to start a surge in demand for scooters in India, said S Sridhar vice-president, marketing, Bajaj Auto.

Though the company displayed almost all the vehicles that will hit the road in 2006, their prices have not been revealed yet.

The Bajaj Avenger DTS-i in the cruiser segment will also get a facelift with a windshield. The new-look Pulsar 180 DTS-i 2006 was also displayed at the Bajaj Auto pavilion on Thursday.
