Karnataka government is contemplating to slap a total ban on sale of aerated soft drinks in the state, Minister for Health R Ashok said on Tuesday.

"The government is seeking legal opinion on imposing the ban", Ashok who held discussions with the state's Advocate General Uday Holla told reporters in Bangalore on Tuesday.

Analysis of Thumps Up and Mirinda in a laboratory has testified that the drinks contained higher pesticide residues, he said, adding the government would soon be filing cases against the manufacturers of these brands.
