SkodaAuto India Ltd on Thursday said it would make India an export hub for the company in South Asian region.

"We have already started exporting to Bangladesh in July and now we are looking at similar opportunities in Sri Lanka and Nepal," Imran Hassen, MD, SkodaAuto India Ltd said in New Delhi on the sidelines of SIAM annual convention.

The quantity of export is very small at present but the company is confident of increasing it substantially, he said.

"Our Dhaka dealership will be functional very shortly and is likely to give further impetus to the sales in the coming months," he said.

The company on Thursday reported 29 per cent jump in sales during August at 775 units as against 603 units in the same month last year. Hassen said the company had planned a series of new launches for the Indian market starting next month.

"We will be launching Octavia Combi this month which would be followed by Superb Diesel in November," he said. Combi which is a new variant of Octavia range will be a top of the line product in the luxury segment, he said.

Hassen also said the company was looking at launching its top end DSG technology (which reduces power consumption during gear shifts) equipped A5 range in the first quarter of next year.
