The Cable Car Corporation Ltd of Jammu & Kashmir has decided to begin work on the Rs 20 crore Mubarak-Mandi Bagh-e-Bahu cable car project in Jammu.
Mubarak Mandi (Durbar-e-Aam) is a heritage complex while Bagh-e-Bahu is a garden built on the pattern of Mughal Gardens and both the spots draw a large number of tourists.
The corporation has also decided to acquire land for the job on the Shankaracharya (Kashmir), Patnitop (Jammu) and Baisern-Pahalgam (Kashmir) cable car projects.
It was stated at the corporation's board meeting that this year's income of the corporation was expected to touch Rs 6.50 crore (Rs 65 million), a 50 per cent increase over last year's revenue.
Managing director Farooq Ahmed Shah told the board Rs 2.30 crore (Rs 23 million) had so far been realised as revenue from various sources of the corporation.
It was decided to constitute a committee headed by the director general, tourism, to devise recruitment and promotion rules for the staff.
The committee has been asked to draft the rules in two months.
