Tony Blair to open WEF Davos meet

British Prime Minister Tony Blair [ Images ] will address the opening session of the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos on January 26.

Blair is expected to lay out the agenda for the G8 in the coming year, focusing particularly on 'Climate Change.'

"We're delighted that Mr Blair has accepted to join us in Davos for the World Economic Forum's annual meeting to lay out his G8 priorities for 2005. The Forum has been especially happy to give its help and support to Mr Blair's initiative on global warming," said Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, in a statement.

Blair will also take part in a special session on Thursday entitled 'The G8 and Africa: Rhetoric or Action?' along with former US President Bill Clinton [ Images ], Microsoft [ Images ] Chairman Bill Gates [ Images ], U2 lead singer Bono, South African President Thabo Mbeki, and Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The World Economic Forum is the foremost global community of business, political, intellectual and other leaders of society committed to improving the state of the world.
