In a gesture that would have heartened his late father, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday dedicated the 3-fold rise in shareholders' wealth at over Rs 1,00,000 crore (Rs 1,000 billion) in three years to Dhirubhai Ambani and promised investors the group would sustain the performance.

"I am completing three years as RIL chairman. The market capitalisation of RIL was Rs 34,000 crore when I took over. It is now at over Rs 1,00,000 crore," Mukesh told shareholders at the company's annual general meeting.

Noting that shareholders' wealth had increased by Rs 66,000 crore (Rs 660 billion) in these three years, he said: "This is my humble tribute to my father late Dhirubhai Ambani." The support extended by shareholders will enable RIL to progress with the 'same drive and energy' in the coming years.
