The 20th India Economic Summit to be held in New Delhi later this year will showcase India's advances and accomplishments in integrating with the global economy, chief executive officer of World Economic Forum Jose Maria Figueres said in Beijing.

"We are very much looking forward to the India Economic Summit that we will be conducting in the first days of December this year," Figueres said.

"It gives us an opportunity to be able to present to our members, 1,000 global corporations the tremendous amount of advancements, tremendous amount of work that India is doing in terms of integrating itself to the world economies, getting much more competitive way," Figueres told PTI.

He said the WEF was very proud of its relationship with India, specifically with its partners in the Confederation of Indian Industry.

Figueres said he hopes to attract a number of Chinese businessmen and industry leaders to the India Economic Summit, which is scheduled for December 5-7.

"We hope to bring with us to the India Economic Summit many of the Chinese members and participants who took part in the WEF's China Summit 2004," he said.

According to materials distributed at the WEF's China Summit 2004, the 20th India Economic Summit was described as "an exceptional opportunity to engage the new government with respect to its economic and social agenda and its strategy to maintain the momentum of growth and reforms."
