Electrolux on Thursday said that it would source components worth Rs 135 crore (Rs 1350 million) from India for its factories in Sweden, Italy, the United States and Australia.
Electrolux has already awarded contracts worth Rs 58.5 crore (Rs 585 million) to vendors like Bajaj Motors, NRB Bearings, Oswal Electricals, Abilities Pistons, Sunbeam, Goetze, Jhalani Impex, Highway Industries and Kalyani Forge Ltd, its vice-president Nick Sowden said in a statement.
"We are impressed by the quality and performance standards of Indian vendors and are confident that our sourcing from Indian suppliers will increase manifold," he said.
The company has identified India as the sourcing base for its Outdoor Division that makes garden and forestry equipment such as chain saws, riders and lawn mowers.
Electrolux had set up an international purchasing office in India in August last year to source raw materials, components and finished goods for its global manufacturing operations.
