Ten Sports said on Tuesday that it has not asked cable operators to declare 100 per cent of their subscriber base and the present hassles, relating to telecast of Indo-Pak cricket series, between the channel and operators are expected to be sorted out soon.
"This is very normal. It will get sorted out. We have not asked any cable operator to declare even 100 per cent of his subscriber base. We are only asking them to declare as many subscribers to us as they are declaring to other pay channels," Ten Sports India Managing Director Sharmista Rijwani said.
She claimed the channel has a viewership in 30 million cable and satellite homes as on date.
Asked whether Prasar Bharati was still talking to Ten Sports for direct telecast rights for the India-Pakistan cricket matches, she said: "That deal has not happened and no talks on it (are happening) now."
"Doordarshan officials have been in touch with me over the last few days, but not on DD telecast. We have been trying to iron out some minor problems with the one-hour highlights and All India Radio rights which Prasar Bharati already has," she clarified.
On whether viewers will be able to watch the matches on PTV II, as some cable operators indicated earlier on Tuesday, she said: "PTV II signal is very weak in India. This may not be possible."
