A day after withholding a decision to give any further extension, the government on Thursday granted two weeks extension to Star News to uplink from India for its news channel.
The information and broadcasting ministry took this decision as it needed "some time" to consider the replies given by the satellite channel to a number of clarifications sought by the government, ministry sources said.
The government hadon Wednesday said that the answers provided by Star on certain queries are not completely satisfactory.
"The company has not yet answered who is the real owner of Media Content and Communications Services (Star's shell company). From the look of it, it seems that the company has its hands completely tied down by Star. This is not purpose of our policy," a government official said.
The government also wants other details like where all the associated companies of MCCS were incorporated, its shareholding pattern and flow of funds.
