RBI says bought net $1.39 billion in January

The Reserve Bank of India bought a net $1.39 billion in the Indian currency market in January, data in its latest monthly bulletin showed.

The RBI bought $2.78 billion and sold $1.39 billion.

The central bank made net purchases of $1.04 billion in December.

Its outstanding net forward sales at the end of January were $200 million, down from the previous month's $400 million.
