SIA still in bid for Air India

Singapore Airlines said on Thursday that it has not submitted its final offer for state-run Air India, but has also not withdrawn from the race either, contrary to reports it was pulling out.

"We have not submitted our final offer for Air India as of now, nor have we given any notice of withdrawal from the process," an SIA spokesman said in a statement to Reuters.

SIA remains the sole bidder for Air India after the billionaire Hinduja brothers were disqualified from buying control of the international flag carrier.

Star TV had reported on Wednesday that SIA was pulling out of the race for a 40 per cent stake in Air India, but did not cite a source.

Leading industrial group the Tata, who teamed up with SIA for the bid, said they were mystified by the news.

SIA shares ended at S$12.20, down four cents on Thursday.
