What: General Electric's largest multi-disciplinary engineering and technology centre outside of the US, The John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) located at Bangalore, has launched a unique science and engineering that challenges the imagination and technical expertise of tomorrows inventors.

THE GE Edison challenge is an all India contest for academia -- where students, from science and technology colleges, with an innovative bent of mind are ready to test the power of their ideas. It is an opportunity for the best and brightest students of India's finest technical institutions to provide solutions to some of India's pressing issues.
The programme challenges students to provide innovative solutions in four different areas, viz, Self-cooling engine, an efficient truck diesel engine; Early disease detection, finding a test that is rapid and accurate (accuracy > 90 per cent) and can diagnose TB early; Mysetry Train, a communication device that will capture all essential knowledge of a train passing by and Home Energy Solution, reduces power consumption by household appliances like television sets.
The final round will be held at JFWTC in Bangalore where participating teams will vie for a grand prize of Rs 5 lakhs and will have an opportunity to interact with eminent jury members, leading scientists and engineers in the industry.
