Kicking off the inaugural show of the HDIL India [ Images ] Couture Week on September 16, was celebrated designer Ritu Kumar [ Images ]. Kumar showcased a vibrant line of Indian formal/bridal wear with heavily embellished chania-cholis, shararas, saris and salwar kurtas in rich tussar silks and crepes all making an appearance.

Vying for attention, apart from the gorgeous designs, were actresses Priyanka Chopra [ Images ] and Neha Dhupia [ Images ] sashaying down the ramp in breath-taking ensembles. Seen here is Ritu Kumar (centre) accompanied by actress sisters Riya (R) and Raima Sen [ Images ].

The event that promises wearable made-to-order clothes at realistic prices will continue until Sunday, September 21 with leading Indian couturiers including JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani [ Images ], Manish Malhotra [ Images ] and Rohit Bal presenting their lines.
