A creative writing workshop by Renu Balakrishnan who wrote book reviews for Elan Magazine and has conducted writing workshops for teachers in schools and colleges.
Who will benefit from this Workshop?
This workshop attempts to realise the writer in each of us. It will help people who want to improve their creative writing skills in fiction and nonfiction.
Course content
Session 1: Story structure in fiction and non-fiction writing -- complication / resolution.
Session 2: Plot.
Session 3: Narrative design and voice.
Session 4: Character and dialogue.
Session 5: Setting.
Session 6: Tips on writing by a published author / film show.
Programme
6 sessions of two hours each starting 6.30 pm at Xavier Institute of Communication starting August 7,14, 21, 28, and September 4, 11. The dates are subject to change with prior notice. Fee: Rs 3,000
Register and pay before August 5 at Xavier Institute of Communication.Please collect reading and writing assignments for the first class at registration and complete these assignments before the first class on 7th August.

Renu Balakrishnan wrote book reviews for Elan Magazine and has conducted writing workshops for teachers in schools and colleges. She writes stories for children. She has attended a Masters in Education course at Oxford Brookes University, UK, and Creative Writing programmes at the New School, New York and at Florence with Sue Wolfe. Her interests include releasing the creative spirit in people.
