RAVI asked, Hi I am a mechanical engg graduate with a percentage of 73 and a work experience of 2 years in design. I wud like to know abt some good univ matching to my profile as I plan to give gre and AD gre in nov. 1 week.

Manisha Zaveri answers, There are MANY univs in USA that offer MS Mechanical. For specific guidance on univ selection, contact via www.careermosai.org. You can also select a specialisation under MS Mechanical there are some exciting careers possible.

 


 

vidhu asked, I wanna go in for Electronics related subject so MS or MBA in ECE. Suggest plz May i knw d best choice of university wid lowest of expenses?


Manisha Zaveri answers, MS EC should be your choice.

Manisha Zaveri answers, If you want to study in USA, go for MS or MBA in travel and tourism

 


 

deepa asked, sir can you tell me the cost for studying MS or PHD in US. Without scholarship how much it will cost. will i get any educational loan for the studies.


Manisha Zaveri answers, Average MS cost per year is about 12 lakhs. Indian banks offer student loans ranging between 4-16 lakhs

 


 

shivachennai asked, on admission point of view , is it better to join M.S immediately after finishing B.E or after having some work experience?


Manisha Zaveri answers, MS immediately after BE is okay from admission point of view.

 


 

query asked, will one backlog (which was cleared in the first attempt) cause any problem for visa or admission? How to explain the cause of backlog during the visa procedure?


Manisha Zaveri answers, no it won't cause an admission problem if you select the right univ. So long as univ has granted you admission, visa officer is not concerned with your backlog

Manisha Zaveri answers, Good program with great scope world over!

 


 

shivachennai asked, can you explain in detail about getting scholarships, assistantships and the required criterion cum procedure ?


Manisha Zaveri answers, It is based on univ policy, merit and early appication. You can apply at the time of univ application or after you are admitted. If denied in first time, you can apply again for second sem onwards.

 


 

vikram asked, Which univ offer best programs for VLSI? Are univ in California the best for this??


Manisha Zaveri answers, PLENTY of options are available in CA for VLSI, wireless communication and similar programs.

Manisha Zaveri answers, Yes you can do MBA in USA. Your work experience will be an asset

Manisha Zaveri answers, There are some universities in USA that offer Coastal Zone Management. You can also opt for general MBA. You can do MBA in USA

 


 

sumi asked, hi manish this is sumi here. i have a gre score of 1290 and i am working for last 2+ years at TATA motors. i am a post grad in eco. i want to apply for phd. will I get one with the current score. i want to specialise in financial economics


Manisha Zaveri answers, your PHD admission depends on whether or not you have the right qualifications and purpose for pursuing it. You can then think about getting a better GRE.

MITESH asked, Hi Manisha, may I know where undergraduation should be completed. US or UK? My son will complete 12IB in May 2009. Where he should try for admission?


Manisha Zaveri answers, Both are good in their own ways.

Manisha Zaveri answers, course work quality, univ reputation, accreditation, campus life and whether you match the admission criteria of univ or not

 


 

chandra asked, Madam, you answered me as IT returns and Agriculture bills are considered to show evidence for Agriculture income. Madam, since agriculture is not taxable we have not shown in IT returns. But we have bills and they are in regional language. If we translate bills into English language do they accept them. Also if we get a letter from Regional Tasildar office do the Canada visa officer accept it.

Manisha Zaveri answers, cost of MS/MBA in USA is more or less the same

 


 

deepa asked, is working or studying advisable in US. Do i get job opportunity after finishing my studies.


Manisha Zaveri answers, you can study and then work. But if you are not a student in USA and live in India, then you can work only if you have H1. Study first is feasible

 


 

neo asked, how important is it to show one proficiency in other area apart from studies and GMAT scores ?


Manisha Zaveri answers, admission is based on academics, GMAT, TOEFL and statement of purpose

 


 

Monisha asked, BTech, M.Tech (Mech). Working with MNC (IT) for the past 8 yrs. I wish to do MS (CS) in the US. Would you suggest MS or MBA ? Don't have the kind of personality or behaviour needed for MBA. Your suggestions please. Thanks Manisha


Manisha Zaveri answers, Since you already think you are not cut out for MBA, choose MS in USA

 


 

imtushar asked, Greetings Manisha, I want to start applying for Round2 in US MBA colleges and have my GMAT on 25th Oct - will it be too late to apply? Also my friend told my its advantageous to apply in the second round - is it true?


Manisha Zaveri answers, There is no such thing as round 1 and 2. Apply for Fall 2008 if you are taking GMAT on 25th Oct. Send application documents as soon as GMAT is done.

Manisha Zaveri answers, For USA - Take TOEFL test and apply when you have your 12th standard scores. Take SAT also, it is preferred not compulsory

 


 

Som asked, hi Manisha i hav applied for spring 2008 for MS in US. i have a query regarding F1 VISA. Can u tell me if submitting income tax returns of last 3 yrs of the sponsor? Actually my Father (sponsor) has retired from service 4 yrs back and so income does nt fall under taxable hence no returns filed. but we hav enough agricultural assets to support my education. Want to know will this workout, or will it have any implications during VISA.


Manisha Zaveri answers, show previous 3 years IT returns and agricultural assets. You also need someone with regular source of income, in form of interest is also ok

Manisha Zaveri answers, In USA, a grad degree in engineering is referred to as MS. No difference between MS, ME

Manisha Zaveri answers, Both are good. Country choice depends on univ and course work, future prospects. and this is related to the course you do

shivachennai asked, i ve got above 90 percent in school exams both 10 th and 12 th . but i ve only 70 percent and even little lesser in my college (B.E) .. Will this have any impact on the admission ??


Manisha Zaveri answers, you have to select univs that will admit you on 70% of BE. your GRE and TOEFL are also vital
