Those of you who were planning to go to the US for further studies must have been disappointed to hear that registration for the general test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) had been closed.
This, however, is temporary. The US-based Educational Testing Service (ETS), which conducts the test, has now said registration will resume in July and the first tests will be conducted in September.
David Payne, GRE executive director, ETS, said this decision was taken 'to ensure they have an adequate number of Indian test takers in the September 2007 administrations of the revised GRE general test.'
In India, the registration had been closed due to an increase in the total applications as compared to those received from other countries; more than 52,000 aspirants had applied for the test in 2006.
