Summer is here.

With it has come a gamut of health conditions like aggravated acidity, dehydration and more.

We launch a new health advisory with renowned homoeopath Dr Mukesh Batra, who will answer your queries every week.

Dr Batra has over 30 years of experience in his field. He is the chairman and managing director of Dr Batra's Positive Health Clinic Private Limited. He is also Professor Emeritus at the College of Homoeopathy, USA, the Hahnemann College of Homoeopathy, UK, and honorary professor at the Homoeopathic Medical Association, UK.

I am having a stomach pain for the last one month but not regularly. It may be before food time, mostly before lunch, before breakfast. It is not severe. But it is very much disturbing me. I took lot of medicine, doctor giving medicine for gas. Now he told me to take a scan. What is your opinion? Pls advise.

-- Jiso Thomas

Many different conditions -- like excessive gas, constipation -- can cause stomach pain. It can also be caused due to an underlying medical condition. Kindly get the diagnosis confirmed from your local doctor.

Fibre can be helpful in reducing constipation, bloating and pain. Fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals contain fibre. Eating these foods will add fibre to your diet and help to relieve your symptoms.

Meanwhile, to relieve the pain, you can take two doses of Mag Phos 6X, together with Nat Sulph 6X, every day for a week.

My eight-year-old son was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome when he was of age 3.5. He was treated with Prednisolone steroid, and got cured. Since then he has relapsed four to five times, and every time got cured by the same medication. He starts spilling albumin in urine, and starts getting swelled. In all these occurances, he first picks up some infection of cough and cold, and then the NS starts. Is there any medication in homeopathy for this, or to prevent at least cough and cold?

-- D Sen Gupta

Nephrotic syndrome relapses when the child's immunity is low.

Homoeopathic treatment can be given along with his regular allopathic medicines to improve his immunity and prevent recurrent attacks of cough and cold.

A properly planned constitutional homoeopathic medicine has to be given to your child to improve his immunity. The constitutional medicine is prescribed on the basis of the patient's physical and mental status and his family environment.

Kindly consult a local homoeopathic physician for your child's constitutional homoeopathic treatment.

Doctor I have pain in my ankles for quite some time i.e 4 years. There is no pain in any other joint. Pain is quite acute at times. Please suggest.

-- Tarananshu

Ankle pain is often due to an injury to the ligaments that connect one bone to another. I would suggest you get an X-ray of your ankle done.

In the meanwhile, you can take Ruta 200, two doses daily, for seven days to relieve the pain. For long term relief, kindly consult your local homoeopathic doctor or your family physician.

Also, wrap an elastic bandage to prevent further injury.

If there is a swelling, apply ice on that part for 15-20 minutes. Do remember, however, not to apply ice for more than 20 minutes at a time.

I have have an acidity problem but my symptoms are different. I have a headacheand vomiting problem in acidity. Can u elaborate more on this pls. I have strong headache problem.

-- Aboli

Headaches can be triggered by stress, food, environmental changes and other factors.

Avoid foods and beverages that trigger acidity -- including fried and fatty foods, chocolate, alcohol, coffee and other junk food. Stop smoking if you are a smoker and avoid lying down immediately after eating.

You can try Carbo Veg 200, two doses daily, for seven days. This will help you to control your headache and acidity.

For a long term solution, consult a local homoeopath.
