You have prepared extensively for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Now that you have got the call, you start to wonder how you should dress for them.

Brijesh Singh and Jatinder Vohra of Top Careers & You have the following suggestion: GD/ PI is a formal occasion, so dress formally.

    Part I:
    How to convert your B-School call



    osiris_82: How does IMT compare with NITIE and SPJain..will it figure in the top 15 colleges in India?

    Jatinder: SP and NITIE are considered to be better than IMT. Still, IMT still figures in the top 15.



    Dinesh: I got 92.5, Can I get a call from IMT

    Brijesh: The chances are remote.



    osiris_82: which is better of the 3...sibm,scmhrd and nmims?

    Jatinder: NMIMS > SIBM > SCMHRD



    khan: what form of eng shud we use in GD/PI, 100 pc grammar correct or can we use words like "gonna","gottago",etc?

    Brijesh: Try to stick to formal English as far as possible. Slang is strictly prohibited.



    rahullion@rediffmail.com:  DOES MBA FROM AMITY UNIVERSITY HAS VALUE ?

    Jatinder: MBA from Amity will give you an average platform. It is not considered to be of that value.



    swarup: hi brijesh,is AMITY will be gud institute,or VIT

    Brijesh: Amity can be considered to be slightly better.



    khan: Does being a girl help in any way in GD/PI? How should I dress for GD/PI?

    Brijesh: GD/ PI is a formal occasion, so dress formally.



    raman: hi sir i got score 95.7 persentile which coll i cn apper for this mark

    Brijesh: 95.7 percentile in CAT will fetch you calls from B-Schools like TAPMI, UBS, IMT, etc



    Sathish: Sir, I am doing my III BE degree now. I would like to do MBA but I am confused whether to do it immediately after I complete my BE degree or work for sometime & then go ahead with MBA?

    Jatinder: It all depends upon your individual priority. Some people prefer MBA immediately after graduation and others prefer it after work experience.



    pravvy: how does IIFT stand compared to IIM's?

    Jatinder: IIMs are better.



    sid: what about my work experiencewhat are the probable questions i can expect pertaining to my work experience

    Brijesh: Know about your job profile, responsibilities handled and learnings. Apart from that, you should have some idea about the turnover of the company, its vision, mission and management.



    Dinesh: I got placed in CTS thru campus, shall i join there and prepare again for next year or I should do it dedicatedly?

    Brijesh: CTS is a good company. Leave this offer only if you are sure to make it to the top 10 B-schools in the country.



    osiris_82: i have 98.36% in CAT with qa of 76% and 18 months work-ex and decent extra-currics..any chance at SP jain?

    Jatinder: Chances are decent.



    Suresh: PLEASE ADVISE IF I CAN PERSUE MBA(MAY BE ICFAI BANGALORE) with 2 years of work experience EVEN THOUGH I AM AN UNDERGRADUATE.

    Brijesh: For undergrads integrated MBA options are available, you can have a look at those.



    ash1234: how is FMS vis a vis other IIMS and XL

    Jatinder: IIM-A, B and L and XLRI are better than FMS.



    preeti: how good is IIPM? I've taken admission but it is surrounded in controversies... is it worth continuing?

    Brijesh: It all depends upon you. If you find the environment, faculty, placements good, kindly go ahead.



    ankoor: hi BRIJESH ..... HOW WOULD YOU RATE SITM ON A SCALE OF 10 ????

    Brijesh: Somewhere between 5-6.



    swarup: thx brijesh,but i have heard that there is no accredation for AMITY.

    Jatinder: The controversy is still on.



    Faiz: i have a cat score of 80.What are my chances og getting inti Wellingkar(Mumbai),XIME(Banglore),Alliance Business Academy(Banglore),ITM(Mumbai) and NIILM(Delhi)

    Jatinder: You have a chance to get a call from couple of them. Start preparing for GD/ PI.



    saurabh: hi sir snap score 82 no work ex. engg. background what are the chances for scmhrd,siib,sitm

    Brijesh: Chances for SCMHRD will be remote. But SIIM/ SITM are a possibility.



    ram: do i presume my question has no answers am i wasting my time?

    Jatinder: Ask again.



    RAT: Is IIM I and K better than FMS or Equal or Worse ?

    Brijesh: Till now FMS is considered to have a better reputation.



    zafar: Hi Sir,I am working as officer in BSNl and having 3 years of experience in operation and maintinence of Electronic swithing system;which institutes should i apply for MBA to boost up my Career.I am interested in Management consultancy as my career.

    Brijesh: You must aim for the top B-Schools in order to boost your career.



    Call_CAT: I have 8+ year exp in IT. Got 98.73 percentile in CAT and GDPI call from IIM Lucknow. What are my chances?

    Jatinder: The chances look bright but you need to explain why not an executive MBA from IIM.



    ram: hi, Ihave got a percentile of 79.96 in cat,will i get into IIM I executive program,i have 8 years exp with a pay of 5 lakh a month.will i get in TAPMI,if so should i join

    Jatinder: IIM-I executive programmes do not have a well defined criteria. TAPMI immeditely cannot provide you with a platform to start at five lakh per month.



    Amol: IF A QUESTION ON DRESSCODE FOR GD CAN BE ANSWERED, WHY ISN'T MY Q ANSWERED YET.

    Brijesh: Kindly ask your question again.



    kams: hi my cat score is 96.83 .. quant 95,di 96 ,verbal 87 ,wat r my chance of getting in mdi,nitie and spjain?? plzz answer

    Brijesh: The chances are okay, start preparing for the GD/ PI.


  • ruchikdoshi: How would ou rate welingkar vis-a-vis sydhenam and somiya? i have 94 percentile in cat no work ex what are my chances in these institutes?

    Brijesh: All three of them are almost in the same league. Chances are good.


    Ranjit: Hi i got a good overall percentile of 99.7 but 85 percentile in quants. i got a few iim calls. will by qa score dampen my chances?

    Jatinder: Do not think about your QA score now. Prepare well for your GD/PI.


    ashok: hi brijesh, i've been pondering over the thought of getting myself an MBA degree, I am at present working with an MNC and have abt 3 yrs exp.. however going for a MBA thru correspondence does not go well with me and I also do not want to quit my job. Pls tell me if an MBA thru correspondence has the same value and weight as any regular MBA ?

    Brijesh: Regular MBA has got far more weightage as compared to MBA by correspondence.


    ash: I have got only one call from IIM L..should i consider it seriously or wait another year fro A,B,C

    Jatinder: Go ahead and try to crack it with your full effort.


    raghuveer: hi,i have got 98 percentile in CAT scores, which coll should i concentrate more on? IIMs or ISB? I heard its easier to make it to ISB with my present credentials.pls reply

    Jatinder: Focus on your IIM calls. You can convert an ISB call with a good GMAT score, rich work experience and good academics.


    ashish: hi! sir i am BE(Mechanical)2005 batch and rigth now i am working in Sterlite group in Marketing Deptt.Sir, i want to know what will be more beneficial going for MBA now through correspondence or Doing full time MBA after having work experience here

    Brijesh: It all depends upon you. But a full time MBA from a top B-School in India can provide you with a very good career platform.


    vikram: sir, i have 96%ile in cat but 83%ile in quant. do i have a chance of getting a call from nitie and imt?

    Brijesh: The chances are good.


    anuja: sir plz answer my previous qs.........i asked abt my chaces of gettina call 4m MDI n SPJAIN......total %ile=97.7, VA=93.08, DI=78.66, Quant=99.28..........plz reply

    Jatinder: Chances are okay from MDI and if you have work experience, the chances are good from SP Jain.


    Ruchit: Dear Brijesh, do u consider IIPM ahmedabad better than Nirma, ahmedabad? how do we compare institutes? it will help me a lot if u answer my question, thank you

    Brijesh: Nirma has decent placements and, unlike IIPM, it is not surrounded by many controversies.


    nish: Hoe good a CET score is needed for JBIMS? Among the top 10 or 15 where doed JBIMS stand?

    Jatinder: You should have top 15 rank in OMS category. JBIMS is in the top 10.


    dameed: what are the chances with 2 1/2 yrs exp in an MNC with 700 680 in GMAT for ISB ?

    Brijesh: The chances are okay. But it also depends a lot on your past academics, job profile, projects undertaken and your performance in the interview.


    Topper: I have a call from IIMK and have 3+ yrs of exp.Any clue on how the intvws might be?Will it be acads or work exp based?

    Jatinder: With three years of rich experience you can expect questions from your work experience and your areas of interest.


    Billi: Can u please tell me why should i do a two year MBA than a One year MBA. I have got 5 IIM calls and i need an answer . I have 3 1/2 year Work Ex

    Brijesh: A two-year MBA from IIMs is very reputed. You require more work experience to get into a one-year executive programme in the top B-schools in India. If you are keen on a one-year MBA, then ISB should be a good option for you.


    raja123: Sir, I am unable to attend the GD/PI classes. I have got a few IIM calls. Can you please suggest me what preparation I can do through the internet ?

    Jatinder: Content is an important part of GD and Internet is good in content.


    megha: hi i have 92.85 in cat n 84.5 in snap -- can i get imi,imt thru cat or hrd thru snap

    Brijesh: Chances are good.
