What: Students and exchange visitors who want to study in the United States can now monitor the status of your Student and Exchange Visitor Information System fee payments online.
The web site: www.fmjfee.com
This newly upgraded web site allows students and exchange visitors to verify online if the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has received their SEVIS I-901 fee payment, and when the official receipt for the payment was issued.
Earlier, this information could only be obtained by contacting the SEVIS programme office directly.
The enhanced website is the latest improvement to provide convenience and customer service to participants in the SEVIS programme.
About SEVIS
SEVIS, administered by ICE within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is an Internet-based system that maintains information on foreign students and exchange visitors in the United States.
As of February 2005, nearly 753,000 students and exchange visitors studying in the US were registered on the system, along with over 115,700 of their dependents.
International students and exchange visitors who register with the SEVIS programme are required to pay the appropriate fee -- in most cases, $100 -- prior to obtaining their visas.
This fee applies to F, J and M non-immigrant visa classifications.
