What: The Common Admission Test for the Indian Institutes of Management, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow, will be held on Sunday, November 20, for their various programmes.

Programmes

Post-graduate programmes in management (equivalent to an MBA)

  • IIM-Ahmedabad: PGP and PGP-ABM
  • IIM-Bangalore: PGP and PGSEM
  • IIM-Calcutta: PGP-PGDM and PGP-PGDCM
  • IIM-Indore: PGP and Exec PGP
  • IIM-Kozhikode: PGP
  • IIM-Lucknow: PGP and PGP-ABM

Fellow programme in management (equivalent to a PhD)

IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Calcutta, IIM-Lucknow

Are you eligible?

For post-graduate programmes in management

~ You must possess a three-year Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any discipline; the degree must be recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/ All India Council for Technical Education.

~ You could be a final year student awaiting your result.

Special eligibility requirements

IIM-Ahmedabad: PGP in Agri-Business Management

~ You should have, from an institution recognised by the AIU/ AICTE:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture Sciences OR
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture-related disciplines OR
  • A three-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline, and a strong interest in Agriculture, Agro/ Food Processing, Rural and Allied Sectors.
  • Candidates who have a strong interest in these sectors must submit a special form available with the PGP-ABM office in October.
  • You could be a final year student awaiting your result.

~ If selected, you will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if you submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2006, from the principal/ registrar of your college/ institute (issued by June 30, 2006) stating you have appeared for all the examinations (including practicals) in all the subjects required for obtaining the Bachelor's/ Master's degree.

~ Admission will be confirmed on submission of the marksheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's/ Master's degree referred to in the certificate issued by the principal/ registrar of your college/ institute.

~ The deadline for submission of the marksheet and the certificate is December 31, 2006.

~ Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

IIM Bangalore: PGP in Software Enterprise Management

~ You must, at the minimum, possess a three-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline; the degree should be recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/ All India Council for Technical Education.

~ In addition, you need to have a minimum of two years' work experience in the software industry as on June 10, 2006.

~ Applicants with four to five years or more of work experience are likely to gain from this programme.

IIM Calcutta

You  can apply to more than one of the post-graduate programmes viz PGDM and  PGDCM.

~ For a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management, you are required to send a crossed demand draft, payable in Kolkata, for Rs 600 in favour of the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta between August 1 and November 18, along with the following:

  • Name of the candidate
  • CAT application form number or test registration number
  • e-mail address
  • Complete postal address
  • Phone number

~ The application form will be sent to the applicant on receipt of the demand draft.

IIM Indore: Executive PGP in Management

~ You must possess a three-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline; the degree should be recognised by the AIU/ AICTE.

~ You must also have a minimum of five years and upto 15 years of managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience as on August 31, 2006.

~ Only work experience obtained after graduation will be considered.

IIM Lucknow: PGP in Agri-Business Management

~ You should have any of the following qualifications obtained from institutions recognised by AIU/ AICTE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or allied subjects OR
  • Master's degree in any discipline of Agriculture or allied subjects OR
  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any discipline recognised by the AIU/ AICTE as eligible for post-graduate studies, with a minimum of two years' experience or demonstrated strong interest in the field of agriculture or allied sector.
  • Such candidates, eligible under Criteria B, must submit a special form available with the admission office, IIM-Lucknow.

~ Final year students awaiting their results can also apply.

~ Candidates giving their final year Bachelor's or Master's degree examination will be allowed to join the programme only if they complete all the requirements for obtaining the degree before May 31, 2006, and produce a certificate to this effect at the time of registration.

CAT scores

The CAT scorecard will be mailed to the candidates by January 9, 2006. The CAT score will remain valid for one year for all the IIMs.

Scholarships/ financial assistance

It is the endeavour of all IIMs that no student be denied the opportunity to pursue the post-graduate programme in management for want of adequate financial resources. Substantial need-based scholarships are available for students belonging to economically disadvantaged families.

Reservations

As per the requirement of the Government of India 15 per cent and 7.5 per cent of the available seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively.

Three per cent of the seats are reserved for persons with disability. The three categories of disability are:

a) Low vision/ blindness
b) Hearing impairment
c) Locomotor disability/ cerebral palsy.

CAT Bulletin

~ The CAT Bulletin containing the CAT application form and other information can be obtained at the branches of the State Bank of India until August 22 for Rs 1,100 (Rs 550 for SC/ST candidates). The SBI branches are listed below.

~ Please note that a candidate needs to buy only one CAT Bulletin irrespective of how many IIMs h/she is applying to.

~ All candidates must enclose the third copy of the bank's/ IIM's pay-in slip with the CAT application form.

~ SC/ ST candidates should submit a copy of the SC/ ST certificate to the bank/ IIM at the time of obtaining the CAT Bulletin.

~ Please ensure your eligibility to appear in CAT before procuring the CAT Bulletin.

~ CAT application forms of ineligible candidates and application forms with incomplete information will be rejected. No claim of refund will be entertained on a bulletin once sold.

A copy of the CAT bulletin can also be obtained directly from any one of the IIMs till August 26, under exceptional circumstances such as:

~ The stock of bulletins is exhausted in the nearby branch of the bank.

~ The bank branch is inaccessible to the candidate.

~ The bulletin sale through banks is closed.

Your request must be accompanied by a crossed demand draft for Rs 1,200 (Rs 600 for SC/ ST candidates with a copy of the SC/ ST certificate) drawn in favour of the respective IIM, along with a cloth-lined self-addressed unstamped envelope of size 12" x 10".
