Yale, the Ivy League university, has tied up with the Chennai-based Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM), a premium new generation B-School, to establish the Yale-GLIM Centre for Management Research.

This brand new joint venture, a first of its kind in India will serve as a platform for faculty exchanges, joint research, concurrent case studies and publications, and will create an academic symbiosis between the two management institutions.

According to Dr Bala V. Balachandran, Founder and Honorary Dean, GLIM, the centre will facilitate Yale to develop research programs in various fields of management for the private, public and non-profit sectors.

The data analysis will be predominantly India-centric, and the academic output so generated will be available to relevant Indian Industries and Corporates.

A thrust area at the proposed centre will be an in-depth empirical analysis of the Indian financial markets spearheaded by Prof Shyam Sunder, an international authority in Experimental Economics.

Yale plans to set up a dedicated live trade-room facility at GLIM's new campus, deemed to be ready in a year's time, that will in turn offer live exposure for GLIM students on the nuances of the Indian stock bourses.
