he Fashion Design Council of India has decided that, next year onwards, they will host two India Fashion Weeks.

"There has been a lot of discussion about the necessity of two fashion weeks. It has been going on for sometime but, from next year, we would have two India fashion weeks," said Rathi Vinay Jha, director general, Fashion Design Council of India.

"The modalities are being worked out at the moment as to how many days each of the fashion weeks would span and when would they be held," she said.

"With the earlier agreements and commitments coming to an end, we are in the process of working out the details for the two fashion weeks to be held next year," she added.

Internationally, separate fashion weeks are held at least six months in advance to showcase spring-summer and fall-winter collections respectively.

Western buyers at the Lakme India Fashion Week have been complaining about the difficulties of mixing the spring-summer and fall-winter collections together in one fashion week.
