New experiences to savour
December 24, 2004
The night of December 22 was dedicated to style as red, greens, blues and yellows competed with and complemented each other.
First up was the amateur fashion show -- The Vogue finals.
Six colleges, full of attitude and confidence, vied for the top spot. NIFT, Mumbai, walked away with the honours. They also won the best choreographer and best designer titles.
But the real deal was yet to come.
The professional fashion show debuted at Mood I with glamour and oomph. Designer Sangeeta Desai's collection was stunning in red and pink. Designer Ranjeeta Chaturvedi's collection, dominated by blues, pinks and a hint of green, were just as eye-catching. The show was choreographed by Shakir Shaikh, a past Vogue winner.
The night was capped with a terrific performance by the Terence Lewis Dance Company.
The show, aptly titled Blush, evoked a whole range of emotions. Love, hate, passion, lust and doubt were the themes that ran through the performances.
The dances were inspired by modern, classical, Kathak and yogic styles. Even the human body's athletic nature made an appearance though the Mallakambh display by Mandira Sharma.
Terence Lewis staged an impressive duet between himself and a motion picture of himself in Who am I?
But the fun wasn't over yet.
A Karaoke session, another first, was introduced in MI. The audience response was overwhelming and there were a host of requests and dedications, not to mention an impromptu rap session!
All in all, it was a night for new things and new experiences to savour.
