'He has matured like fine wine'

    Ramesh Sippy

I would attribute his longevity to his voice, his persona, his commitment, his attitude to his work.

The way Amitabh used his voice, his speech, has always been remarkably effective and attractive . It makes you want to listen to him.

WITH age, I think his pauses have gotten longer. That is my perception as a director.

It might be that he became imprisoned in a particular mould of fighting for causes and remained trapped there for a while.

Now has come his chance to break out of that mould.

His graceful ageing along with all his positive facets combine to make him even more attractive. For example, if today Mughal-e-Azam were to be made, who else would you choose but Amitabh?

If I were to make Shakti again, I'd love to have him and his son do the two roles played by Dilip Kumar and Amitabh!

That is how gracefully he has matured. Like vintage wine, totally positively.

Ramesh Sippy spoke to Lata Khubchandani
