Political muscle: Ten Lok Sabha and five Rajya Sabha members represent Haryana in Parliament.

Party in power: Indian National Lok Dal led by Om Prakash Chautala.

Main challenger: The Indian National Congress. The party won nine of the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana in last year's general election.
